Bar Manager – Job Description

The Bar Manager is responsible for the full day\-to\-day operation of the bar and front\-of\-house at Harleyford Golf Club. This includes staff management, stock control, service delivery, cleanliness, and supporting all events to ensure a consistently high standard for members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Front of House \& Staffing

• Manage all front\-of\-house staff on a daily basis


• Prepare and maintain weekly staff rotas to ensure full operational cover, including weekends and events


• Recruit, train, and onboard new front\-of\-house team members


• Supervise staff during service, ensuring efficient and professional delivery at all times


• Address performance issues and maintain team standards

• Take full responsibility for ordering all bar stock and supplies


• Manage stock levels across the bar and halfway house, ensuring availability while controlling waste and costs


• Complete regular stock takes and maintain accurate records


• Monitor product quality and consistency of service

• Oversee and actively participate in daily bar service


• Lead front\-of\-house service during busy periods


• Take responsibility for all food and beverage service during:


• Clubhouse service


• Banquets


• Conferences


• Private parties and events


• Ensure service runs smoothly and efficiently at all times

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all front\-of\-house areas, including the bar, clubhouse, and service areas


• Take ownership of front\-of\-house presentation and overall member experience


• Ensure daily and weekly cleaning schedules are completed and maintained

• Monitor the general condition of the clubhouse and front\-of\-house areas


• Report and follow up on maintenance issues


• Ensure deliveries, storage areas, and back\-of\-house areas are kept organised

• Ensure all staff follow licensing laws, food safety, and health \& safety regulations


• Maintain proper procedures and documentation where required

• Support and deliver all club events alongside the Operations \& Events Manager


• Take responsibility for front\-of\-house and bar operations during events


• Ensure adequate staffing, stock, and preparation for each event


• Be present and hands\-on during larger functions

• Approx. 40 hours per week


• 5 days out of 7, including regular weekend work


• Bar operating hours: 07:00 – 21:00 daily


• Multiple events each week


• Occasional late finishes (typically once every two weeks)
