Spire Bushey Hospital forms part of a 4 site portfolio, and is supported by and works alongside Spire Bushey Diagnostic Centre, Elstree Cancer Centre and Spire Pathology Centre – based on Centennial Park in Elstree \- just 5 minutes from the main hospital site.

Duties and responsibilities (not limited):

As a Respiratory Physiologist, you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive respiratory diagnostic service, including:

• Performing and interpreting a full range of routine respiratory investigations.


• Conducting Full Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) including:

+ Slow Spirometry
+ Forced Spirometry
+ Gas Transfer Testing (DLCO)
+ Body Plethysmography (Body Box)
+ Respiratory Muscle Strength Testing (MIP/MEP and SNIP)
+ Bronchodilator Reversibility Testing
+ Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO) Testing
+ Six Minute Walk Tests

• Assessing patients and obtaining relevant clinical information to support diagnosis and treatment planning.


• Explaining procedures clearly to patients, obtaining informed consent and providing reassurance throughout the investigation process.


• Monitoring patient wellbeing during diagnostic procedures and responding appropriately to any complications or concerns.


• Interpreting and documenting test results accurately, communicating significant findings to the wider clinical team as required.


• Maintaining accurate patient records in line with departmental, clinical and regulatory requirements.


• Ensuring all respiratory diagnostic equipment is maintained, calibrated, quality assured and compliant with infection prevention and control standards.


• Supporting the continuous development of respiratory services through quality improvement initiatives and service enhancements.


• Working collaboratively with consultants, nursing teams and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver excellent patient outcomes.

Promoting best practice, patient safety, equality and dignity in all aspects of care delivery.

• Who we're looking for?


• BTEC Ordinary National Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (or equivalent qualification).


• Previous experience working as a Respiratory or Clinical Physiologist.


• Competent in performing and interpreting a broad range of respiratory diagnostic investigations.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate and patient\-centred approach.


• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively.


• Awareness of relevant professional standards, health and safety requirements and infection prevention practices.

IT literate and comfortable using clinical systems and Microsoft Office applications.
