Bank Occupational Therapist
At University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, we offer the opportunity to work across a wide range of acute inpatient clinical areas. Our four hospital sites provide experience in specialties including Emergency Department, Medical and Surgical, Stroke, Major Trauma, Neurosurgery, Neuro\-medical, Palliative Care, Frailty, Orthopaedics, Cardiac and Neuro Rehabilitation.
We are looking for skilled and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapists to join our Bank OT workforce. This flexible role allows you to support a variety of services depending on demand.
As a Bank OT, you may be offered shifts at:
Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton
Worthing Hospital
Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath
Newhaven Rehabilitation Unit
St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester
Bank work is allocated according to service need, and we welcome applicants who prefer to work within a single clinical area or hospital site. You can share any preferences with us at interview.
To work independently as an autonomous practitioner by providing specialist assessment and intervention to individuals presenting with a range of physical, cognitive, social or perceptual deficits which impact on functional ability and safety within their home environment, using an evidence based and person\-centred approach.
To ensure a proactive approach to rehabilitation to maintain and improve function and to facilitate timely discharges always thinking ‘Home First ’.
To work closely with Physiotherapy colleagues, as well as the wider multi\-disciplinary team. This will involve providing both formal and informal clinical support where necessary.
To work flexibly across the different Occupational Therapy teams
To provide supervision and leadership for relevant junior and senior members of staff and students on practice placement.
To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy Services within a designated specialist team.
