Bank Assistant - Newcastle - IJmuiden Route

This is a seafaring position working a 14\-day onboard / 14 days off rotation. You will be part of a multicultural onboard team where financial accuracy, operational discipline, and passenger service come together in a fast\-paced maritime environment.
About the role
------------------
Based onboard a DFDS passenger vessel operating between Newcastle (UK) and IJmuiden (Netherlands), the Bank Assistant plays a key role in both financial administration and guest service delivery.
The Bank Assistant ensures the integrity of onboard financial processes while supporting efficient vessel operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate handling of onboard revenue and supporting crew administration processes, while also contributing to a smooth and professional passenger experience through Guest Service Centre operations.
The role requires a strong balance of financial control, service mindset, and the ability to work across multiple departments onboard, including Catering, Guest Services, Deck, and Engine.
Main responsibilities

- Reconcile onboard cash revenue from all outlets and perform daily sales and cash balancing.
- Complete month\-end revenue accounting and reporting.
- Manage crew cash advance systems and related controls.
- Coordinate secure cash collection and transport.
- Maintain accounting procedures for Ships Club operations.
- Review travel accounts and allocate costs across departments.
- Act as point of contact for catering revenue matters with shore\-side teams.
- Support casino cash flow monitoring and report faulty machines.
- Arrange and coordinate crew travel in line with operational needs and cost efficiency.
- Support passenger check\-in and disembarkation.
- Assist in the Guest Service Centre, providing cover during breaks and peak periods.
- Support smooth passenger flow in cooperation with terminal teams.

You are detail\-oriented, structured, and confident, working in both financial and customer\-facing environments. You take ownership of your responsibilities, remain calm under pressure, and adapt easily to changing operational demands onboard.
You enjoy working in a multicultural team and understand the importance of accuracy, trust, and service in a maritime environment.

- Experience in administration, accounting, cash handling, or a similar role.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work accurately in a fast\-paced operational environment.

- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and cultures.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Willingness to work at sea on a rotational schedule.
- Willingness and ability to obtain Basic Safety Training certification and a medical certificate within the first month of employment.
- Valid passport for travel between the UK and the Netherlands.

You will report to the Business Leader Accommodation and work closely with Catering Business Leaders, the Guest Service Centre, the General Office Manager, and Deck and Engine Officers.
You will be part of a dedicated onboard team responsible for delivering safe operations, financial control, and high\-quality guest service in a 24/7 maritime environment.
