Role Overview
We are looking for a Production Manager to join our busy bakery operation in Market Harborough. This is a hands\-on role responsible for the smooth day\-to\-day running of our production facility, ensuring high standards of quality, consistency and food safety while delivering production targets.
You'll lead a team of around 20 production operatives across multiple production lines, overseeing the manufacture of a wide range of handcrafted bakery products for national distribution. Reporting into senior management, you'll work closely with colleagues across production, planning, technical and warehouse functions to maximise productivity and maintain operational excellence.
Based on site within a fast\-paced food manufacturing environment, you'll be responsible for developing your team, managing performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of the bakery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the daily operation of food production and packing lines
- Drive productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies
- Support, coach and train production team members
- Operate and monitor production machinery
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate where required
- Report downtime, breakdowns and production concerns accurately
- Ensure production targets and performance standards are achieved
- Maintain high standards of food safety, quality and housekeeping
- Follow and promote all health \& safety procedures
- Plan workloads effectively and support daily production requirements
- Provide clear communication and direction to operatives on shift
- Work closely with colleagues and management to ensure smooth operations
- Previous experience within a food manufacturing environment, ideally within the bakery sector
- Proven experience leading teams and coordinating production activities to meet operational targets
- Strong understanding of production KPIs and efficiency targets
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast\-paced manufacturing environment
- Proactive, hands\-on approach with strong problem\-solving and decision\-making skills, coupled with a positive and can\-do attitude.
- Sound knowledge of health \& safety, food safety, quality and compliance standards
- Ability to motivate, develop and engage production teams to achieve business objectives
