The role
We are now looking for a skilled, driven and experienced Backend Developer to join our team. Working behind the scenes, our backend developers have a significant impact not only on our business success, but also on the success of our partners.
Our department is organised into seven small, fast\-moving Scrum teams, each with a clear focus and high degree of ownership. We are currently looking for someone to join our Platform \& Security team, where you will help build and maintain the foundations that keep our platform secure, scalable and reliable.
What you will do
- Take ownership of day\-to\-day development within a fast\-moving Scrum team.
- Design, build and maintain secure, scalable and reliable backend services and platform capabilities.
- Improve and evolve our core infrastructure, with a focus on performance, stability and security.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers, QA and stakeholders to deliver high\-quality solutions.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape the long\-term direction of our platform.
- Build and maintain foundational capabilities that enable other Scrum teams to develop and deliver new features to our users.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply them where they add real value.
- You have a strong understanding of software development principles and design patterns
- At least 3 years of experience in Java or similar backend languages
- Academic background in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
- Good knowledge of relational databases and data modelling
- Experience with Git\-based version control and collaborative workflows
- Good understanding of backend systems, APIs and scalable service architectures
- Comfortable using AI\-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code or similar) to improve productivity
- Hands\-on and proactive, with the ability to take on complex challenges
- Curious, with a drive to learn and grow
- Able to work independently as well as in a team
- Strong attention to detail, problem\-solving and communication skills
