The Opportunity
An established and growing accountancy practice in Liverpool is looking to appoint an experienced Audit Manager as part of the continued development of its audit team.
This is more than a standard Audit Manager position. The successful individual will work closely with the existing management team, with the intention of progressing to Responsible Individual (RI) status in the short term and ultimately playing a leading role within the firm's audit offering.
The firm is looking for someone technically strong but equally engaging, commercially aware and confident with clients, who wants to have a wider impact on the growth and development of a practice.
The Role
You will take responsibility for a varied audit portfolio, predominantly consisting of SMEs, owner-managed businesses, Not-for-Profit organisations and professional practices.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing audit assignments from initial planning through to completion
- Acting as the key point of contact for your own portfolio of clients
- Managing and developing a team of approximately 3-4 staff
- Reviewing work and maintaining high standards of audit quality
- Building strong relationships with existing clients and identifying opportunities to provide additional support
- Contributing to new business pitches, tenders and wider business development
- Supporting the firm's Audit Quality Control processes
- Getting involved in broader projects including due diligence and the resolution of technical accounting matters
- ACA / ACCA qualified or equivalent
- Currently operating at Audit Manager level within UK accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards
- Experience managing several audit engagements and deadlines simultaneously
- Confident managing both client relationships and junior team members
- Strong commitment to audit quality and technical accuracy
- Commercially minded, with an interest in networking and business development
- Ambitious and keen to progress towards RI status and greater leadership responsibility
- Experience with SRA Accounts Rules Reviews would be beneficial, although not essential
- Circa £60,000 salary
- Genuine short-term pathway to RI status
