About the Opportunity
One of the most interesting roles in the region, going beyond delivery, this role combines surveying, leadership and fire safety. It is a chance to take ownership of a specialism and shape the team around you.
A leading multidisciplinary consultancy are looking for an Associate Director-level Fire Specialist to lead their fire and building safety consultancy work across the South West and Wales. The role gives someone the platform to build a regional presence, develop key client relationships and help establish a recognised Centre of Excellence in this space.
You would be working within an established Building Surveying practice, but with a clear brief to grow the fire safety consultancy side of the business. The client base is strong, with work across healthcare, education, residential, defence, commercial, infrastructure and public sector portfolios.
There is a real balance of technical authority, commercial input and long-term ownership. You would still be close to complex fire safety work, but with the senior backing, investment and wider national network needed to build something properly.

Responsibilities of the Role

This is a senior role with a fantastic blend of technical delivery, client development, team building and commercial ownership. Responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Leading the regional fire safety consultancy offer across the South West and Wales

  • Acting as technical lead on fire safety, building compliance and remediation work

  • Advising on fire legislation, Building Regulations, passive fire protection, compartmentation and Building Safety Act compliance

  • Developing client relationships, securing new opportunities and leading bids or tenders

  • Supporting major clients across a range of public and private sector portfolios

  • Building, mentoring and developing a specialist fire and building safety team

  • Overseeing quality, governance, financial performance and resource planning

About You
This will suit someone who knows the fire safety consultancy market well and is ready for a role with more ownership, visibility and influence. You will ideally bring:
  • Strong fire safety consultancy experience and technical knowledge

  • Detailed understanding of fire risk, compliance, Building Regulations and fire safety legislation

  • Confidence leading complex projects, managing clients and helping grow revenue

  • Commercial awareness, leadership experience and strong project management skills

  • Relevant degree and recognised accreditation or chartership, such as MRICS, MIFSM or IFE

  • Level 4 Fire Risk Assessor qualification and a full UK driving licence

  • Building Safety Act, Principal Designer, fire remediation, framework management, NEBOSH or IOSH experience would all be useful

What's on Offer?
The role gives you a chance to put your stamp on a specialist regional department. There is backing, investment and a strong client base already there, with plenty of room to shape the direction. The package includes:
  • Up to £85,000 and substantial employee rewards

  • Hybrid working and flexible holiday allowances

  • Tailored health, wellbeing, financial and lifestyle benefits

  • Ongoing senior-level development and access to a wider national fire safety network

  • A proper platform to build a recognised fire and building safety consultancy offer across the region

Ready?

If you are already established in fire safety consultancy but feel the next move needs to offer more ownership, more influence and a genuine chance to build something, this is worth exploring.

You would be joining a major multidisciplinary consultancy with strong backing, varied clients and a clear appetite to grow this service line across the South West and Wales. For the right person, it is a real chance to shape the market.

If this sounds like the kind of move you would like to discuss, let's talk.
