About the Role We're recruiting for two Associate Business Partners to join a forward-thinking local authority finance team during an exciting period of transformation.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the Finance Business Partnering function, supporting the organisation through its performance cycle with a strong focus on financial reporting, analysis, and in-year decision support.
You'll act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, helping drive value for money, improve financial performance, and support the delivery of key services to the community.
Key Responsibilities • Lead on financial reporting and analytical review across service areas
- Provide expert financial advice to budget holders and senior stakeholders
- Support budget setting, forecasting, and in-year financial monitoring
- Analyse performance against budgets, forecasts, and benchmarks
- Deliver clear insights to support operational decision-making
- Build capability by training and supporting budget holders
- Contribute to year-end accounts, grant claims, and bids
- Support development of business cases (less complex)
- Ensure strong financial governance, control, and compliance
- Challenge stakeholders to improve financial outcomes and efficiency
- Proven experience in: • Financial management and budgeting
- Forecasting and financial reporting
- Supporting and influencing non-finance stakeholders
- Strong Excel skills and experience with finance systems
- Ability to analyse complex data and provide actionable insights
- Experience within public sector or large organisations
- Knowledge of public sector financial frameworks
- Experience contributing to corporate budget processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities
- Collaborative and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Hybrid working model
