Gourmet Food Parlour is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join our team ahead of the opening of our new venue at 8th Lock, Ashtown, later this year.
We are looking for a strong hospitality professional who enjoys working with people, takes pride in delivering great food and service, and is confident supporting a busy restaurant team.
As this is a new opening, you will have the opportunity to be part of the team from the beginning, helping to establish standards, build the team, and create a positive culture within the new venue.
Training will commence in our existing Gourmet Food Parlour locations, giving you the opportunity to become familiar with our brand, systems, culture, and standards before moving into the new Ashtown venue.
Responsibilities \& Duties

Team Leadership:
Support the General Manager with the day\-to\-day running of the restaurant, leading by example and creating a positive, professional, and welcoming environment for both customers and team members.
New Opening:
Play an active role in preparing for the opening of the new 8th Lock venue, supporting recruitment, training, team development, and the implementation of Gourmet Food Parlour standards.
Shift Management:
Take responsibility for running shifts in the absence of the General Manager, ensuring the restaurant operates smoothly and that service and operational standards are maintained.
Team Training \& Development:
Support the training and development of new and existing team members, providing guidance, coaching, and feedback to help build a strong and capable team.
Customer Experience:
Lead the team in delivering warm, friendly, and efficient customer service, dealing confidently with customer queries or issues and ensuring a consistently positive experience.
Operational Standards:
Support the General Manager in maintaining high standards across the restaurant, including service, cleanliness, organisation, presentation, and overall team performance.
Front \& Back of House:
Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure strong communication between front and back of house and that service runs efficiently.
Sales \& Commercial Awareness:
Support the General Manager in achieving sales and operational targets, while developing an understanding of labour costs, food costs, stock control, waste, and overall restaurant performance.
Stock \& Cash Management:
Assist with stock control, deliveries, stock takes, cash handling, ordering, and waste management in line with company procedures.
HACCP, Health \& Safety \& Compliance:
Ensure company procedures and all food safety, HACCP, health \& safety, and cleanliness standards are followed consistently across every shift.
People Management:
Support the General Manager with team scheduling, attendance, performance, communication, and employee development, working closely with HR and Operations when required.
Leadership \& Culture:
Be a positive role model and strong ambassador for Gourmet Food Parlour, helping to create a hardworking, supportive, and customer\-focused team culture.
Key Competencies

- Previous experience in an Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Duty Manager, or senior hospitality role
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A genuine passion for hospitality, food, and customer service
- Confident managing a team and running busy shifts
- Well organised, proactive, and able to work under pressure
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of restaurant operations
- Experience with training, coaching, and supporting team development
- Good understanding of HACCP, food safety, health \& safety, and cleanliness standards
- Comfortable using operational systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong problem\-solving skills and a calm, positive approach
- Hands\-on and willing to lead by example
