Salary: £26,500 – £28,000 per year (dependent on experience)

Role Summary

We are seeking to appoint two motivated, compassionate, and capable Assistant Psychologists to join our neurodevelopmental service, supporting both children and young people (CYP) and adult pathways. This role sits within a dynamic multidisciplinary team, including a Specialty Doctor, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist, and Speech and Language Therapist.

You will contribute to the delivery of high\-quality, neuro\-affirmative, trauma\-informed care \- supporting comprehensive ADHD and Autism assessments, formulation, and intervention under clinical supervision. The role also includes assessments, report writing, follow up coordination, and psychological administrative support to ensure seamless clinic operations and excellent client care.

Clinical and Operational Duties

• Undertake psychological assessments, including psychometric tools, rating scales, structured observations, and semi\-structured interviews under supervision.


• Assist in preparing assessment and management reports, contributing to formulation and care planning.


• Support delivery of psychoeducational and psychotherapeutic groups, including resource preparation.


• Participate in risk assessments, referral meetings, and case conferences.


• Liaise with clients, families, carers, schools, GPs, and informants to support holistic care.


• Ensure care is person\-centred, culturally sensitive, and delivered with dignity and compassion.


• Practice in awareness of intersectional, trauma\-informed, attachment\-informed, and gender\-affirming approaches.


• Operate within scope of competence and escalate concerns appropriately.


• Contribute to audit, service evaluation, and policy development under supervision.


• Support the creation and delivery of psychoeducational materials (e.g. worksheets, webinars, leaflets).


• Promote client, carer, and public involvement in service improvement activities.


• Comply with all Aspen Clinic policies, safeguarding procedures, and legal frameworks (e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Children Act).


• Participate in clinical supervision, CPD, and performance appraisal systems.


• Perform other duties reasonably aligned with the role.

• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and professionals \- verbally and in writing.


• Maintain clear, concise, and accurate clinical documentation in line with GDPR and Caldicott principles.


• Use electronic patient record systems and digital tools confidently.


• Contribute to newsletters, reports, and internal communications.


• Represent The Aspen Clinic in formal and informal settings, modelling professionalism and values.

• Promote safety and wellbeing across all clinical and operational environments.


• Identify and manage health and safety risks, including compliance with RIDDOR, infection control, and equipment use.


• Participate in clinical audit, policy development, and service improvement initiatives.


• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities for children and adults at risk.

• Evaluate clinical effectiveness and contribute to formulation\-driven, evidence\-based practice.

• Cope with fast paced working environments with exposure to prolonged periods of concentration and emotionally demanding content.

Qualifications and Training

• A first\-class or upper second\-class BPS\-accredited psychology degree conferring eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC).


• Enhanced DBS clearance.


• Desirable: Training in DIVA\-5, ADOS\-2, ADI\-R, and/or QB Test administration (training provided if not held).

• Previous paid experience as an Assistant Psychologist or in a psychologically informed role.


• Experience working with individuals with mental health difficulties, neurodevelopmental conditions, and/or their families and carers.


• Experience using psychological assessment tools, including cognitive and psychometric measures.


• Desirable: Experience in multidisciplinary or multi\-agency settings.


• Desirable: Experience supporting children with emotional, behavioural, or neurodevelopmental needs.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills \- adaptable across diverse audiences.


• Strong time management, organisation, and ability to prioritise.


• Familiarity with the Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, and professional guidelines (HCPC, BPS).


• Ability to use clinical supervision to reflect on competence and develop decision\-making skills.


• Commitment to mandatory training and CPD.


• Desirable: Knowledge of therapeutic interventions for children and young people.
