Assistant Property Underwriter

Based in Spinningfields, Manchester, our client has grown rapidly since entering the UK market in 2015 and is looking to recruit a Property Underwriter to join its expanding team. You'll benefit from continued technical development, exposure to a varied portfolio of commercial property risks and genuine long-term career progression.

Responsibilities:

• Assessing commercial property insurance risks through technical underwriting and risk selection.


• Managing existing clients while underwriting new business opportunities and tenders.


• Reviewing qualitative information, including construction details, risk surveys and protection systems, to build accurate risk assessments.


• Analysing information and presenting clear underwriting recommendations.


• Building strong relationships with broker partners and colleagues across the business.


• Continuing to develop your technical underwriting knowledge while working alongside experienced underwriting professionals.

What we are looking for:

• Experience within commercial underwriting, either as an Assistant Underwriter or Underwriter.


• A strong analytical mindset and the ability to make informed underwriting decisions.


• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain your decision-making.


• A genuine interest in insurance and risk management.


• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.


• The ability to prioritise your workload effectively.


• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.


• Confidence analysing qualitative information and working with data.


• A passion for learning and professional development.


• Knowledge of SQL and/or Python would be advantageous but is not essential.
