We are looking for a new Assistant Manager for Werkplaats. Werkplaats – on the ground floor of Volkshotel – is a large cafe with a terrace and workplaces. It is a meeting place where many different people come together. Werkplaats has two faces: during the day it is a place for coffee lovers and in the evening you can come over for a wide range of (special) beers. There are also events regularly, from a photography market to speed dating and live jazz performances.

Responsibilities:

• You are jointly responsible for the organization, recruitment and motivation of the Werkplaats team;


• You manage a team of Shiftleaders and Allround employees;


• You train, guide, motivate and coach employees;


• You create a good atmosphere in the cafe and come up with ideas for renewal or improvement of the existing range in terms of assortment and programme;


• You guarantee quality and cleanliness in the workplace (HACCP) and behind the scenes;


• You are responsible for the seamless day\-to\-day operations within the Werkplaats and Event spaces;


• You realize qualitative and quantitative objectives such as labor productivity and turnover.

What we ask:

• You have relevant work experience in a managerial position;


• You live in the Amsterdam region;


• You speak Dutch and English;


• You can communicate clearly and set up standard working methods;


• You are stress\-resistant, a hard worker and not afraid to roll up your sleeves;


• You are enthusiastic and a team player.

Werkplaats creëert, net als de andere plekken binnen Volkshotel, ontmoetingen. Hier komen hotelgasten, Amsterdammers, expats, flexwerkers, Broedplaats huurders en personeel binnen om hun plekje in Volkshotel op te zoeken. Omdat Werkplaats zich op de begane grond bevindt, kun je de plek zien als een soort kruispunt. Werkplekken, receptie, zalen en café vloeien hier in elkaar over en zijn met elkaar verbonden. De sfeer is relaxed en ongedwongen en status verdwijnt. Werken gaat hier over in borrelen en misschien rol je daarna zelfs nog door naar andere plekken in het gebouw.
