This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA) or bodyshop professional who is looking to progress into senior leadership. While you will support the day\-to\-day management of the site from day one, this role has been designed with a clear development pathway towards a General Manager position in the future.

Role Title: Assistant General Manager
Reporting To: General Manager
Main Purpose Of Role:
Working closely with the General Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the operational performance of the site, maintaining high standards of customer service, quality, and profitability.
A significant part of the role will utilise your VDA expertise, ensuring accurate repair planning, insurer compliance, and efficient workshop workflow. Alongside this, you will gain exposure to all aspects of site management, preparing you for future progression into a General Manager role.
Main Tasks
Vehicle Damage Assessment \& Repair Planning
- Prepare and oversee accurate vehicle damage estimates in line with insurer and customer requirements.
- Ensure repair methods are commercially viable, safe, and compliant with industry standards.
- Liaise with insurers and customers regarding authorisations and repair approvals.
- Support efficient parts ordering and repair planning processes.
- Work closely with technicians and workshop teams to ensure repairs progress smoothly.
- Assist in the day\-to\-day running of the bodyshop.
- Monitor workflow, productivity, and vehicle throughput.
- Help maintain service levels, customer satisfaction, and operational KPIs.
- Support quality control processes and compliance requirements.
- Assist with staff supervision, coaching, and development.
- Lead by example, promoting a positive and professional working environment.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training activities where required.
- Develop the skills and experience required to progress into a General Manager position.
- Support the resolution of customer queries and complaints.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental, and company procedures.
- Help maintain audit standards and operational records.
Essential
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA) within an accident repair centre or bodyshop environment.
- Strong understanding of estimating systems, repair methods, and insurer requirements.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of bodyshop operations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with workshop teams, customers, and insurers.
- Desire to develop into a senior management role.
- IMI Accreditation in Vehicle Damage Assessment.
- Previous supervisory, team leader, or management experience.
- Knowledge of BS10125 standards and bodyshop compliance requirements.
- Experience managing KPIs, productivity, or operational performance.
- Experience mentoring or developing colleagues.
Due to the size and complexity of the establishment, you will undertake any other reasonable tasks or duties that are deemed to be within your capability, as directed by a senior manager of the group with whom you have a reporting relationship.

Salary will be discussed during the interview and will depend on experience and qualifications. The role includes site bonus opportunities.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience, IMI Accreditation, and familiarity with Audatex and Autoflow are all preferred.
Hours are 8am \- 5pm Monday – Friday, 30\-minute lunch break.
