Our Infrastructure and Capital Projects team has extensive experience of advising on major procurements and complex transactions at the interface between the public and private sectors. From initial commercial/financial strategy, market engagement, planning and running transactions / procurements, contract structuring and negotiation through to contract exit and transition.

Our broader team service areas include:

As an Assistant Director in our Infrastructure and Capital Projects team, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of complex, high-profile advisory engagements for public sector clients. You will be a key member of the leadership team, shaping our market strategy, developing client relationships at the highest levels, and ensuring the successful delivery of major programmes. You will also play a critical role in developing our people and capabilities, and in driving the growth of our business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and overseeing the delivery of large-scale, complex advisory projects, providing strategic commercial, financial and funding advice to public sector clients.

  • Acting as a senior advisor to clients, building and maintaining trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and influencing major commercial and financial decisions.

  • Shaping and driving the sector strategy, identifying new business opportunities, and leading go-to-market initiatives in collaboration with Directors and Partners.

  • Overseeing the development of high-quality proposals, thought leadership and market insights to support business growth.

  • Providing senior leadership and direction to project teams, ensuring delivery excellence and developing the next generation of leaders within the team.

  • Representing Deloitte in the market, building the firm's profile through networking, speaking engagements and industry forums.

  • Taking ownership of engagement risk, quality and commercial outcomes, ensuring compliance with Deloitte's policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide senior leadership to our Edinburgh team working with the lead Partner to lead our local office team and support development of local talent.

Technical skills and experience:

Essential

  • Experience in a commercial, procurement and/or commercial focussed role within government, a private sector bidder or another advisory firm working on one or more of: PPP, project finance, outsourcing, franchising or similar service contracts.

  • Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with a deep understanding of the key issues impacting the sector.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to represent Deloitte at the highest levels.

  • Proven ability to lead project teams, influence stakeholders, and drive consensus in multi-party environments.

Desirable
  • Experience of working with financial models, designing and building complex financial analysis.

  • A recognised procurement, accountancy or financial qualification (full or part-qualified).

  • Experience in business case development and report writing for complex projects across various sectors.

  • Experience in strategic organisation design, operating model development, or business transformation programmes.

Infrastructure and Real Estate

Our Infrastructure and Real Estate team supports both public and private sector clients on complex infrastructure, real estate, and capital projects. Typical engagements include urban regeneration, transport, energy and renewables, and occupier advisory to central government and large corporate companies.
