Assistant Catering Manager

Torwood Garden Centre recently celebrated 80 years of independent, family run business in central Scotland. The business is now managed by the 3rd and 4th generation of the family, John and Jamie Stevenson. We are looking to bring an assistant manager on board to join us for the next phase of our continued expansion and to support our growing team.

The successful applicant will take on immediate responsibility to support our catering manager to oversee a team of almost 40 staff across all areas of catering from front of house to our in\-house chefs and bakers. Applicants should demonstrate their catering management experience, with proven leadership qualities and a genuine passion for fantastic customer service. The successful applicant will step into the role with confidence and inspire the team to deliver at their best, communicating effectively to realise our goals for business in a commercially viable way.
Key focus areas for the business are customer service, staff training, stock management and developing our food offering. You must be able to take initiative, develop best practices and motivate your team to maximise opportunities to drive sales and profitability targets for the centre. Responsibilities –
- Support catering manager in running of restaurant operation, maximising profitable sales and growth whilst effectively leading their team to create a high\-quality customer focused environment.
- Managing day\-to\-day operations; goods\-in process, HR and health and safety, hiring and scheduling, and customer service.
- Proactively serve and help customers in need of assistance, resolving queries and complaints.
- Strong communicator who can motivate their team with enthusiasm and great personality.
- Coach and develop their team in all areas of display standards, product knowledge and above all outstanding customer service.
- Prioritise business objectives with work lists, guidance and prioritisation.
- Support catering manager to manage hiring, absence, sickness and holidays to ensure appropriate cover.
- Ensure business maintains compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Be commercially aware to achieve sales and profit targets
Pay: £28,000\.00\-£30,000\.00 per year
