Assistant Accountant

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a varied, high-visibility role where you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, influence decision-making, and help shape financial strategy.

The Role

You’ll act as a trusted advisor to budget holders and leadership teams, providing expert financial insight, supporting planning and forecasting, and ensuring strong financial control across a range of service areas.

Key responsibilities include:

• Partnering with managers to deliver clear, practical financial advice


• Supporting budget setting, forecasting, and performance monitoring


• Analysing financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities


• Improving financial systems, processes, and reporting


• Supporting year-end processes and statutory reporting


• Monitoring funding streams and investigating variances


• Contributing to cash flow and treasury management oversight


• Building strong working relationships across the organisation

• AAT qualified


• Strong experience in financial accounting, budgeting, and reporting


• Advanced Excel and financial systems skills


• Ability to influence and support non-finance stakeholders


• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail


• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills


• A proactive, solution-focused approach
