A growing and ambitious SME based in Bath is seeking a proactive Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or experienced accounts professional looking to broaden their responsibilities and develop their career within a fast-paced and supportive business environment.
Your new role
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
- Support month-end and year-end processes
- Maintain the fixed asset register and accruals/prepayments schedules
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Maintain both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Prepare VAT returns and other statutory submissions
- Produce financial analysis and reports for management
- Assist with process improvements and finance projects
- AAT qualified, qualified by experience or studying ACCA/CIMA/ACA
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance position
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Capable of managing workloads and meeting deadlines
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
- Experience within an SME environment would be advantageous
- Flexible working options available.
- 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
- 1 day per week office-based
- Working hours: 8.30am - 5.30pm
