Area Manager (Operational Lead)
Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Area Manager (Operational Lead) to oversee daily operations providing operational leadership, quality assurance and strategic support across all York Childcare nursery settings.
The role will work closely with the CEO, Business Management Team, and Nursery Managers to ensure the consistent delivery of outstanding childcare, education, safeguarding, compliance, and operational practice across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational oversight and support across all York Childcare nursery settings.
- Conduct regular visits to settings to monitor quality, compliance, staffing, and operational effectiveness.
- Support managers in resolving operational issues, complaints, and parent concerns where required.
- Lead the implementation, review, and development of operational policies and procedures across the organisation.
- Promote and maintain compliance with EYFS, safeguarding, health and safety, and Ofsted requirements across all settings.
· Mentor, coach, and support Nursery Managers, Deputies, and senior staff to strengthen leadership practice.
· Promote a positive culture of teamwork, accountability, wellbeing, and professional development.
· Support Nursery Managers and senior teams to deliver high\-quality early years education in line with the EYFS framework.
· Keep up to date with sector developments, legislative changes, and best practice within early years education.
· Support curriculum development, educational quality, and learning environments across settings.
· Assist in identifying training and development opportunities to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
· Promote and uphold safeguarding responsibilities across all nursery settings.
· Support managers and staff in responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and referrals.
Essential
- Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification
- Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and Ofsted requirements
- Significant experience in nursery leadership or management
- Experience supporting, mentoring, or managing staff teams
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively across multiple settings
- Strong understanding of operational management within early years provision
- Level 5 qualification or above
- Multi\-site or operational leadership experience
- Experience supporting settings through Ofsted inspections
- Safeguarding Lead qualification
- Experience delivering training or leadership development
