Apprenticeship - Medical Receptionist and Administrator
About the Role
Northgate Medical Centre are seeking a motivated and friendly Medical Receptionist and Administrator Apprentice, to join our well\-established practice team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands\-on experience in a medical setting while working towards a recognised qualification, Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration.
Located in Chester City Centre, we are a thriving GP Practice caring for approximately 8600 patients. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality patient care within a supportive and collaborative working environment. We are situated in a multipurpose premises along with other GP practices and community services.
As a recognised Training Practice, we are actively involved in the education and development of future healthcare professionals, including GP Registrars, Medical Students and Student Nurses.
Team Structure:
- 3 GP Partners
- 5 Salaried GPs
- Nursing team which includes, Practice Nurses, Nurse Associate, Healthcare Assistant and GP Assistant
- Experienced Admin \& Reception Team
Key Responsibilities
- Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and respectful manner
- Booking, rescheduling and managing patient appointments
- Handling telephone calls and signposting patients appropriately
- Registering new patients and maintain accurate records
- Using clinical systems to update patient information (training provided)
- Supporting general administrative duties within the practice team
- Processing prescription requests
- Managing incoming and outgoing post and emails
- Ensuring confidentiality and in line with NHS and GDPR policies

- Comfortable using computers and learning new systems (training provided)

- Reliable and eager to learn
- No previous medical experience is required as full training will be provided
You will work towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration while gaining valuable on the job experience.

Essential
- GCSE Maths \& English or equivalent qualification \- Level 2 Foundation Skills
- Able to communicate clearly and politely with patients and staff
- Friendly, patient, and professional approach
- Basic computer literacy (email, Word, data entry)
- Able to manage tasks accurately and follow instructions
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Willingness to learn, reliable, and punctual
- Understands importance of confidentiality (training provided)
- Additional qualifications in IT, Business and Admin or Health \& Social Care
- Experience dealing with members of the public
- Previous customer service experience (retail, hospitality, etc.)
- Experience using database or booking systems
- Experience working in a busy or fast\-paced environment
- Experience working in a team setting
- Interest in healthcare or NHS services
- Awareness of GDPR or data protection principles
