The Opportunity

Since 2000, BMC Eirco Refrigeration Ltd. has been a trusted leader in industrial cooling and HVAC solutions. We specialize in future\-proof, eco\-friendly systems utilizing natural refrigerants. Due to continuous expansion, we are seeking a self\-motivated Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Apprentice to join our dynamic Cork team.
In this role, you won't just be learning standard service and maintenance. You will get hands\-on experience on mission\-critical infrastructure across high\-end commercial, industrial, and pharmaceutical sites, learning how to ensure essential facilities operate 24/7/365\. You will work directly alongside our experienced Service Engineers, gaining top\-tier, future\-proof industry skills.
What You Will Be Working On \& Learning
As your training progresses over this 4\-year program, you will handle the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault\-finding of high\-spec equipment, including:
- Industrial water/air\-cooled chillers and packs.
- Lyophilisers and high\-spec DX air conditioning systems.
- Advanced systems utilizing Natural Refrigerants, HCs, HFCs, and HFOs.
- Temperature applications ranging from high\-temp to ultra\-low temp.
- Organized \& Driven: Ability to plan, organize, and show a positive attitude toward learning.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively within a team and recognize the need for excellent customer relations.
- Team Player: Able to work independently when required and collaborate smoothly as part of a team.
- Professional Work Ethic: Good timekeeping, dependability, and a commitment to tidiness and quality awareness.
- Safety\-First Mindset: Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
- Basic knowledge or interest in electrical work, welding, and plumbing.
- An interest in inspecting, testing, and fault diagnosis of mechanical systems.
- Ability to learn how to interpret technical drawings and diagrams.
- A hands\-on approach to performing routine maintenance and repairs.
To be eligible for this SOLAS\-approved apprenticeship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1\. Educational Requirements (Must meet one of the following)
- Junior Certificate: Grade D in five subjects in the Department of Education \& Skills Junior Certificate Examination (or an approved equivalent).
- Pre\-Apprenticeship: Successful completion of an approved Pre\-Apprenticeship course.
- Experience: Three years’ work experience gained over sixteen years of age in a relevant designated industrial activity acceptable to SOLAS.
- Applicants are strictly required to pass an approved SOLAS Colour Vision Test.
