Salary: Day £13\.45 per hour. Night £14 per hour.

Shift Pattern: Rotational (Day \& Night Shifts)

About Us

Hello, I am Jack, the Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse at Apex Vets. We have an opportunity to join our team as an Animal Care Assistant. We’re an independent, well‑established small animal practice with a team of 4 Animal Care Assistants.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Animal Care Assistant to join our team. This is a hands\-on role requiring dedication, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for animal care.

The position involves a rota of both day and night shifts, including lone working, so flexibility and confidence working independently are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting with animal handling


• Providing high standards of inpatient care


• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across clinical and kennel areas


• Supporting the veterinary team with day\-to\-day operations


• Carrying out administrative duties as required

• A qualification in Animal Care (e.g. NC, HNC, HND, or equivalent)


• Confidence in handling a variety of animals


• Ability to work independently, including lone working and night shifts


• Strong organisational and communication skills


• A hardworking, compassionate, and proactive attitude
