About Unicare

Unicare Complex Care Specialist Ltd is a nurse-led, CQC-registered provider of supported living, community outreach and complex care. We support adults and young people with autism, learning disabilities, mental health needs, trauma histories and behaviours that challenge.

The role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse to provide advanced clinical leadership and help our staff teams deliver safe, consistent, person-centred support.

You will work with people whose needs may include repeated placement breakdowns, self-injury, significant distress and previous experiences of restrictive care. You will also coach managers and teams, helping them develop the skills and confidence to sustain placements and improve outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide specialist clinical input, including formulation, risk assessment, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) planning and clinical oversight.

  • Coach Registered Managers and Team Leaders through incidents, reflective practice and difficult decisions.

  • Lead restrictive practice reduction, ensuring interventions are recorded, reviewed and justified.

  • Embed trauma-informed practice in everyday care.

  • Work with community mental health and learning disability teams, psychiatry, psychology, commissioners and other professionals.

  • Support referrals, assessments and transitions into new placements.

  • Contribute to clinical governance, incident analysis and staff training.
Essential requirements
  • Current, unrestricted NMC registration as an RMN.

  • Substantial post-registration experience in mental health, learning disability or complex behaviour services.

  • Strong PBS knowledge, including functional assessment, support planning and restrictive practice reduction.

  • A trauma-informed approach that you can explain and teach.

  • Experience coaching and developing managers and team leaders.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
What we offer
  • Clinical autonomy within a nurse-led organisation.

  • The opportunity to influence practice and service development.

  • Funded CPD, revalidation support and clinical supervision.
We particularly welcome applications from nurses with experience stabilising placements and supporting teams through complex situations.

Apply with your CV and a short covering note outlining your relevant experience.

Unicare is an equal opportunities employer. Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. We are committed to safeguarding adults and children.
