Adult Social Worker – Learning Disabilities
<p>Our client based in Southampton is seeking an experienced and skilled Adult Social Worker to join their Learning Disabilities and Neurodiversity Team in Southampton. This role requires a confident practitioner with strong legal literacy, excellent assessment and recording skills, and the ability to manage complex and high-risk situations within a busy adult social care setting.<br>This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals with learning disabilities and neurodiverse needs, delivering person-centred, evidence-based interventions that promote independence, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.<br><br><strong><span data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">What will your responsibilities be?</span><br></strong><br><span data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">In this role, you will:</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Undertaking Care Act 2014 assessments and reviews in line with statutory responsibilities.</li>
<li>Leading on Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries, ensuring robust, timely and proportionate responses.</li>
<li>Completing Mental Capacity Assessments (MCA) with strong evidence-based practice and confidently leading Best Interest decisions.</li>
<li>Developing strengths-based care and support plans focused on promoting independence and reducing long-term care needs.</li>
<li>Managing a dedicated caseload of adults with learning disabilities and neurodiverse conditions, including those with complex needs.</li>
<li>Conducting lone working home visits and engaging effectively with service users, families, and carers.</li>
<li>Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary framework including health professionals, providers, and partner agencies.</li>
<li>Maintaining accurate, timely, and high-quality case records in line with statutory and organisational requirements.</li>
<li>Responding calmly and effectively to high-risk and high-demand situations.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications & Experience<br></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW</li>
<li>Must be registered with Social Work England</li>
<li>Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience, including completion of ASYE</li>
<li>Demonstrable experience working with learning disabilities and/or neurodiverse individuals</li>
<li>Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005</li>
<li>Experience in safeguarding, Best Interest decisions, and statutory duties</li>
<li>Excellent assessment, analytical, and evidence-based decision-making skills</li>
<li>Strong time management and organisational abilities</li>
<li>High standard of written recording and documentation</li>
<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Ability to undertake lone working visits confidently</li>
<li>Willingness to be office-based at least one day per week</li>
<li>Full UK driving licence and access to a car is desirable</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Contract Details</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)</li>
<li>Duration: 3-month initial contract</li>
<li>Working Pattern: Hybrid working with a requirement to attend the office a minimum of one day per week</li>
