Adult Care Worker
This is not just another care job, this is your chance to start a career in a rapidly growing sector.
At Access Your Care we started out by asking, “How can care be done differently?"
We wanted to provide the highest quality care for our clients but also create a work environment where our team look forward to the start of each and every shift.
We looked at Adult Care Workers, or as they are more commonly referred to as Domiciliary Care Workers. These incredible individuals are the backbone of the adult social care sector and are the people trusted to take care of loved ones in their own homes.
Adult Care Workers are responsible for:
\- Assisting with personal care.
\- Administering medication.
\- Nutrition \& hydration support.
\- Manual handling by using specialist equipment to help clients mobilise.
\- Offering companionship, support and a friendly ear, ensuring their clients have the social nourishment we all need.
This is a highly responsible role that is very much unsung, so we decided to create an offering that gave Adult Care Workers the recognition they truly deserve.
We then looked at the offerings from other established companies and noticed a few things:
\- Some do not pay travel time between clients. You could be travelling for up to 2 hours a day working in domiciliary care, and these businesses expect you to do that for free. We pay our team travel time between clients, meaning that they are being paid from the start of their shift to the end of their shift.
\- Mileage, some companies only pay 25p per mile mileage to their team, that barely covers fuel costs, we pay our team 45p per mile, this covers fuel whilst working, vehicle tax, MOT and a new set of tyres for a full time member of our team, still leaving them with a bit of extra cash in their pocket at the end of the year.
On top of that we also pay our team mileage home from their last call, because you shouldn’t have to spend your own fuel money to travel home.
\- Training, some companies might have a 2\-3 day induction, others have none at all. We decided to ensure everyone who works with us would be at the same level, set up for success, so when you join Access Your Care you get:
- A five day classroom based induction at our purpose built learning centre in our offices, you are paid for training.
- An extensive shadowing period with one of our trained mentors following this, as everyone learns at different speeds there is not a time limit on this, but this usually lasts a maximum of two weeks.
- Yearly training refreshers, ongoing support and E learning.
- Fully funded NVQ level qualifications up to level 5
\- Set shift times, mornings (07:00\-14:00\) and afternoons (16:00\-22:00\)
\- A fixed rolling 2 weekly rota, you know what days and times you will be working at all times, no zero hours contracts or ever changing rotas here, work life balance is very important and as part of our team you will have the balance you need.
\- Only working 1 in every 2 weekends.
\- Fully paid call times, not minute by minute, if your call under runs, you will still be earning the full call time.
When working full time for us, you could be earning more than you would think:
\- Based off of 45 hours a week, here’s what you could earn with Access Your Care
- Base earnings (client contact earnings, paid at £13\.00 per hour Monday\-Friday, £13\.50 on Weekends and £26\.00 per hour on bank holidays, travel time paid at £12\.71 per hour) \- £27,352\.00 per year
- Mileage (paid at 45p per mile) \- £2,344\.40 per year
- Proud to care bonus (paid to you every six months for working for North Somerset Councils lead provider in the area, worth an average weeks wages each time) \- £1,180\.00 per year.
- Adding this together gives realistic yearly earnings of £30,876\.40 if working 45 hours per week
\- A fully funded blue light discount card, with thousands of discounts on stores and restaurants across the UK.
\- Ongoing training and development opportunities.
\- A company phone and starter pack when you join us.
\- A free, professional uniform with support to claim uniform tax relief (worth up to £125 per year).
This is not just another job in care, this is an opportunity to work with an established, market leading business that is leading the way in home care services. You care for our clients, so we will care for you.
