Job overview

Essential criteria


  • IHRIM National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ)

  • A\-levels in Science/ Mathematics/ English

Desirable criteria


  • NHS Digital Clinical Coding Approved Trainer

  • IT Training at Intermediate level

Experience

Essential criteria


  • Substantial clinical coding experience in an acute trust and knowledge of coding a wide range of specialties.

  • Experience in identifying data quality errors.

  • Experience of leading a team of staff/ particular specialty/ mentoring others

Skills

Essential criteria


  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of clinical coding depth of knowledge in performance targets and the key importance for delivery within NHS organisations.

  • Ability to analyse and communicate complex issues to clinical and non\-clinical staff

  • Understand the link between coding and the payment by result process

  • Understand the importance of the coding process from a financial perspective

Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of Clinical Coding policies and protocols

  • Excellent knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
