The role
We’re looking for an organised and confident Assistant Credit Controller to join our finance team.
This is a great opportunity if you enjoy speaking with people, keeping things accurate, and playing a key part in helping a business run smoothly. You’ll support the Credit Control function by making sure customer accounts are up to date and payments are received on time.
You’ll be trusted with sensitive information, so discretion and professionalism are key—but you’ll also be part of a supportive team who’ll help you settle in and develop your skills.
What you’ll be doing
- Keeping an eye on outstanding debt and helping manage the aged debt report
- Chasing overdue invoices by phone, email, and letter (always professionally)
- Logging customer conversations and updating account notes
- Allocating incoming payments and helping reconcile accounts
- Supporting with customer queries and resolving any issues quickly
- Sending out statements and reminders
- Flagging any high-risk or overdue accounts to senior team members
- Assisting with automated bulk chasing processes
- Providing general admin support to the wider finance team
- Strong communication skills – you’re comfortable speaking with customers
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when handling data
- Basic understanding of accounts or finance (helpful but not essential)
- Confident using spreadsheets and office software
- Good numeracy and the ability to process information quickly
- A team player who can also manage their own workload
- Organised, methodical, and able to meet deadlines
- Proactive and willing to take initiative
