Accounts Manager

The Role

The Accounts Manager is responsible for oversight and management of the Accounts Department and is accountable for ensuring the highest levels of accounts service and support are delivered to our clients and to the company.

Working collaboratively with Accounts Department colleagues, and autonomously where required, your role is to ensure that all accounts and billing activity is delivered promptly and accurately and in compliance with our quality and safety policies and defined accounts procedures. This is key and plays an important role in developing relationships with all Flightworx clients; it is therefore equally vital that you keep our accounts processes and procedures under regular review and ensure that they continuously flex to meet our clients’ requirements.

As a member of the Flightworx Management Group, you will be expected to deliver effective performance management, support staff with any welfare issues and in their learning and development, as well as leading on recruitment, succession and business planning for your department and by making a positive contribution to the overall development of the company and its success.

Responsibilities

· Management and Leadership – providing strong direction and leadership for the Accounts Department. Demonstrate sound business and operational planning for the continual development of accounting procedures and accounts activity for Flightworx as required and also as directed by Flightworx senior management.

· Accounts/Service Delivery – overall accountability for the timely and accurate delivery of the daily accounts workload and monthly accounts procedures; ensuring that all departmental work/activity is effectively prioritised and delivered to the highest standards.

· Accounts/Service Delivery – advising and guiding Accounts colleagues on key areas of their work and company developments (including work prioritisation, changes to procedures, relevance and importance of the Accounts LPM, new company policies, quality, safety etc) and ensuring Credit Controllers do likewise to assist all Accounts staff in the delivery of their duties.

· Accounts/Service Delivery – stepping in to cover duties for Credit Controllers as required to ensure the continued delivery of our accounting procedures. Conducting comprehensive handovers with Credit Controllers as required and in particular prior to and upon return from any periods of absence from the office.

· Accounts Procedures \- accountability for ensuring the timely and accurate completion of the following key accounting processes: monitoring all company debtors and creditors, submitting VAT returns and any other data required by HMRC, account reconciliations, prompt processing of the staff payroll and timely delivery of P\&L reports to senior management on request.

· Quality and Safety Best Practice – promoting quality and safety best practice throughout the Accounts Department. Accountability for ensuring that the full remit of accounts activity is regularly checked for quality and compliance with Accounts LPM standards and procedures.

Effective maintenance of the Accounts LPM. Ensuring that any safety issues are raised promptly through the company SMS , investigated as delegated by the Quality department and dealt with effectively.

· IT/Quality/Safety – accountability for compliant use of the Zero, LEON scheduling, SMS, PROPS and other generic company IT systems across the Accounts Department; ensuring that any safety issues are raised promptly through the company SMS, investigated as delegated by the Compliance department and dealt with effectively.

· Management/Staffing – in consultation with Credit Controllers, plan to ensure that adequate numbers of qualified staff are on duty to meet and deliver operational requirements. Implementing plans to manage short notice staff absences as they arise. Oversight to ensure that all department members receive adequate and timely breaks while working.

· Client Relationship Management – jointly accountable for maintaining and developing relationships with all Flightworx clients through effective accounting support. Providing a principal point of contact for each operator and maintaining regular liaison with key client stakeholders. Taking responsibility for swiftly rectifying any accounts issue or problem raised by any client coordinating action across Flightworx departments as appropriate.

· Communication – accountability for ensuring that communication between all Flightworx departments and with clients is effective and timely to help achieve respective requirements and priorities.

· Management – providing support, coaching and mentoring to Accounts colleagues,

particularly new joiners to the team.

· Management – motivating and encouraging all Accounts colleagues in order to provide a positive working environment for the team and the company.

· Learning and Development – assisting in arranging and delivering induction, developmental and recurrent training for new and existing Accounts staff.

· HR/Management/Workforce Planning – leading on recruitment and succession planning for the department, presenting requirements and ideas for change to Flightworx senior management when needed.

· HR/Management/Performance Management – contributing to the effective performance management of all Accounts staff; commitment to the company appraisal process. Conducting quality and timely appraisals on Accounts staff.
