Accounts Assistant (purchase and sales ledger)
Our client is looking for an Accounts Assistant (purchase and sales ledger). This is a varied role where you'll become an integral part of the team, taking ownership of the purchase and sales ledger while assisting with general office administration when required. Reporting directly to the Directors, your responsibilities will include:
Purchase Ledger
- Processing supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Matching purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices.
- Reconciling supplier statements.
- Preparing supplier payment runs.
- Resolving invoice queries with suppliers.
- Maintaining accurate supplier records.
- Raising sales invoices.
- Allocating incoming customer payments.
- Chasing outstanding invoices and maintaining aged debt reports.
- Reconciling customer accounts.
- Resolving customer account queries.
- General Finance Duties
- Bank reconciliations.
- Processing expenses.
- Assisting with month-end procedures.
- Maintaining accurate financial records.
- Filing and organising finance documentation.
- Liaising with the company's external accountant where required.
- As part of a small team, you'll also be happy to support with general office administration when needed, contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the business.
- Previous experience in both Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger.
- Good working knowledge of accounting software (Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while also being a valued member of a small team.
