Accounts Assistant
Your new company
I am working with a well-established and growing international organisation, based in Blackburn, with operations across the UK and overseas. The business offers a collaborative working environment and an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure within a busy, multi-entity finance function. Due to continued development, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Accounts Assistant to support its day-to-day financial operations and month-end reporting.
Your new role
As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the finance function and ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information. Working closely with Management Accountants and colleagues across the wider business, you will assist with transactional accounting, reconciliations, month-end processes and contractor invoicing activities. You will be responsible for daily cashbook postings across multiple entities and currencies, preparing bank reconciliations and investigating variances, processing purchase invoices, reviewing employee expenses and completing petty cash transactions. You will support employment cost reconciliations, process business payments, prepare debtor and creditor reports, reconcile intercompany balances and assist with VAT returns and balance sheet reconciliations. In addition, you will contribute to the month-end close process through the preparation of management information and work closely with internal stakeholders to support contractor timesheet administration and client invoicing.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience working in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar accounting position. You will have a sound understanding of basic accounting principles together with strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to organise and analyse financial information effectively. You will be a highly organised individual with excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills. You should be confident working collaboratively with colleagues across different departments and possess a proactive attitude with a genuine desire to learn and develop your skills further.
Experience working within a multi-entity or international organisation would be advantageous, as would previous exposure to month-end activities, foreign currency transactions and ERP systems.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will receive a competitive salary up to £30,000 and a benefits package including 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, AAT study support, flexible working and hybrid working following probation. You will have the opportunity to develop your accounting career within a supportive and collaborative finance team. You will gain valuable experience across both transactional and month-end accounting, working with UK and overseas entities.
